Who I am

Rachel Kaufmann is an artist from New York City, working in the Berkshires. She works in oil paint, acrylic paint, pen, and ink.

She has several bodies of work from different stages. Throughout these different bodies of work, she is interested in what tells a story. These pieces could be the story of a band filling up the streets of Great Barrington with music on a summer evening or a girl who has encountered a replica of herself upside down.

She enjoys exploring what can visually depict an emotional truth: the intensity that can show through depicting herself in all reds, or how it feels to watch the sky light up into a sunset. Motifs throughout her work includes reflections, the sky, and scale techniques to reflect feelings.

Rachel has a BA from Bard College, in Studio Art with a Concentration in painting. She also has a MS from Pratt Institute in Art and Design Education.
