These paintings were made in 2022. The year that I created this work was an unexpected whirlwind of events. I had stopped making art, but the events brought me back to it. These paintings capture moments from that year and the inner and outer lives of the models I have painted.

Techniques I used ranged from observation to working from a photograph to collage in the form of paint. Moments I capture include connections between people and how I felt as I moved through time and space.

While painting the model, I focused on what I could gauge about them and their emotions through facial expressions, body language, and color.

I made this without the vision that it would be a cohesive body of work, but it came together through thinking with my hands.
