Drawings

The following is a series of drawings that I have created, which I often think of as black-and-white, pen-and-ink paintings.

I started these drawings during a time when I was doing a lot of collage work and sketches. I thought it would be interesting to combine these two ways of working. I started to draw out my sketches in a collage fashion. I put items and scenes together in ways that reflected me and how I was feeling.

I started to create scenes that reflected more abstract worlds. Giant coffee cups loom in the background behind people on a video call; gigantic rats are under a girl in black and white as the girl gazes into a colorful world. Time appears stopped as the upside-down mirror image of a girl and her surroundings faces her.

These are images created from journals of sketchbooks pieced together to create scenes.
